What type of products does the CMIM certificate apply to?
The CMIM certificate applies to all types of electrical and electronic products, as well as toys, that want to be introduced in the Moroccan market.
The specific product families concerned by the CMIM marking are:
- Electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits (so-called low voltage (LV))
- Equipment affected by electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
- Toys
The CMIM certificate is valid for a period of five years, after which the product must be re-tested to ensure that it continues to meet the requirements.
The implementation process for the CMIM label
The CMIM label is a round sticker with the letters "CMIM" in the center. The label must be placed on the product in a visible location.
Here are some of the key steps involved in the implementation process for the CMIM label:
- Verification of applicability of the decrees The applicability of the CMIM marking decrees for electrical equipment and toys to the products manufactured shall be verified.
- Gathering documentation: The notified body will need to review a number of documents to assess the product, such as the product's technical file, test reports, and user manual.
- Testing the product: Depending on the application standard we may also need to test the product to ensure that it meets the requirements of the Moroccan regulations. The type of testing that is required will vary depending on the product.
- Issuing the CMIM certificate: If the product meets the requirements, the notified body will issue a CMIM certificate. The certificate will be valid for a period of five years.
- Affixing the CMIM label: The manufacturer or importer must affix the CMIM label to the product. The label must be placed in a visible location.
- Re-certification: The product must be re-tested every five years to ensure that it continues to meet the requirements.
